(translation: when you leave, i'm going to remember you in my heart)
precious words of my 5-yr old host brother, henry. not too long after he told me the thank-you dinner i made them was "biennnnn rico!" wow i'm going to miss those chicos. and my whole family for that matter. some pictures from the tex-mex (and fudge) dinner i made to say thank you to them for everything these last 6 months. i made a lot to cover all i was grateful for :)
and now for a bit of a photo update on the last month or so!
weekend life since the project trip:
my wonderful extended family came to visit
a day of fun and celebrating the birthday of kara (summer intern)
an awesome event to appreciate our host families
one last trip to the beach (manuel antonio)
our 4th of july celebration (on the 3rd)
week life since the project trip:
i've been working on the wastewater design for the geber derek project trip. i'm hoping to finish it all this week before i leave!
in addition, the local orphanage (where i had been doing swim lessons) was having some major wastewater issues, in the form of raw flowing sewage. being the only water/wastewater engineer in the office, i got called over. we ran soil percolation tests and i issued the design for a new septic tank (their current was severely undersized) and leach field, which they're already digging for... all of that over three days!
well i'm down to 0.85714 weeks. i'll be busy trying to finish up my part of the guate project and squeezing in as much quality time with family and friends here as possible. this weekend i'll be heading on a mission trip with my fam and our church to serve indigenous people in another part of the country from friday morning through sunday night. we'll be constructing, painting, cooking and whatever else they need. i feel excited and blessed to able to share in a little more of their ministry before i go. then i'll be on a plane back a day later!
i don't have the words to say how thankful i am for all of your prayers, support, and encouraging words throughout this journey. i have been humbled by it all. thank you for choosing to be part of what God is doing here along with me! it has been a beyond incredible experience and i'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to serve here.
can't wait to see you all so soon!!!
