there's a first time for everything...

well if you are reading this, you are reading my very first blog post. it's true, i am keeping a blog. i've never really thought of myself as a blogger, but i'm excited to have a way to share the coming months with everyone.

background: i recently found out i will be living in costa rica for 6 months after graduation to serve with engineering ministries international (eMi) in their latin america office. eMi is a non-profit Christian organization that does relief and development projects in developing countries (orphanages, schools, churches, water systems, etc). if you're interested in learning more, their website is emiworld.org (very informative i must say).

so the first step is the support letter. i've gotta say i found it quite difficult to really explain my heart for something in a few sentences on paper, but i did my best. it's currently being looked over by eMi staff and will be sent out soon. most updates can be found here, but i'll have a facebook group also for main info and for anyone that wants to support me financially. if you would be willing to pray for me throughout my internship, send me your email address (to epgillham@gmail.com) and i'll send out those updates periodically.

also, i just got an email from dan the intern coordinator for the america latina (eMi-AL) office with a little more information. i will be one of 4 or 5 other interns for the spring term, seems to me like a semi-large group. i'm not sure exactly what project i will be working on, but it looks like it may be in guatemala. there will be another one in peru and probably another in costa rica. i'll pass on more information as it comes in. reading about the office and the projects kind of makes it all a little more real, which is really exciting!

next on the list: vaccinations, yes!
