so on friday i'm off to guatemala folks! i'll be helping out on a second project trip with leftover support i was informed was still there. it will be a boy’s home, similar to foster care, for the kids and teenagers in the streets of guatemala city. these guys come from desperately poor neighborhoods and broken homes, or have no place to call home at all, and in their search to find purpose and belonging often fall into the gangs, drugs, and violence that plague guatemala city. through the Lord working, and by providing a loving home environment and a solid education, the missionaries running this show hope to give them a future and begin a pattern of change in their communities. this project will require quite a bit of civil engineering as they are hoping to turn their large piece of land into homes for the boys, an administrative/school building, and eventually apartments for the older ones and a multipurpose space and guest quarters. i’m excited to be working on it and as always, so incredibly thankful for everyone who is a part of all of this through prayer and financial support!
the first day we're there we'll have the chance to check out a school project from earlier this term (colegio cristiana) that's already pretty far into construction. i'm excited about that and hope to come back with some photos to share!
